Imagine circa 100,000 people descending on the downtown area of your city for the love of music. . . That was the scene at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal on the night of June 27th, when the duo Angine de Poitrine from Saguenay, Québec played a historic, record-breaking outdoor show on the festival’s main stage, blasting a frenetic mix of math rock, metal, punk and jazz — a testament to the adventurous, open ears of Montreal music lovers. Keeping to the promise embedded in its name, the festival’s 2026 edition (June 25-July 5) once again showcased diverse international talent of the highest caliber, including celebrated vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant, French-Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf, saxophonist Joshua Redman, and Japanese pianist Hiromi. It has been published continuously since July 1945.
It is the second longest running Jazz magazine in the world and among the longest running in Italy.
In December 2015, it was awarded the prestigious Ambrogino d'oro by the mayor of Milan.
It is published monthly and has been published with an accompanying record since November 1981.
