This album unfolds with the fluidity and atmosphere of cinema. Each track feels like a scene – love lingering in narrow alleyways, sunsets sliding over the Adriatic coast, memories of summer dance halls and smoke-filled clubs. Italia reminds us that music is not merely about aesthetics or technique, but about memory and identity. It brings the heart of Italy’s melodic tradition back to the foreground – not out of nostalgia, but necessity.

The fact that all this is filtered through the sensibility of a German musician – a refined trumpeter with an innate gift for melody – says much about the project’s nature. Italia can be experienced both as a declaration of love and as a cultural manifesto, distancing itself from songs reduced to fleeting digital slogans in an age of sonic globalisation.

The refined arrangements by Brönner and Magnus Lindgren, the remake of Paolo Conte’s “Via con me” featuring Mario Biondi, and Nicola Conte’s elegant production all fit seamlessly into this framework. Conte does not imitate; he reimagines – blending modern grooves and African rhythms that subtly evoke a club culture increasingly threatened by today’s homogenised musical landscape.

The choice of musicians is meticulous. The female voices evoke the innocence of Mina and the sensuality of Ornella Vanoni, while the jazz soloists embody a sophisticated restraint. There is a clear intention to restore international dignity to Italian song – long disfigured by a vulgarity that has become intolerable.

Italia is not a nostalgic indulgence but a poetic and political gesture. It reasserts that Italian music still has much to offer the world – provided it is performed with care, passion, and respect. In an age of rampant triviality, the artists involved here act as true artisans of beauty, alchemists who blend past and present while keeping their gaze firmly on the future.
