What began in 2005 as a simple experiment—a handful of trio performances in Sweden bringing together a Sardinian trumpeter, a French accordion virtuoso, and a Scandinavian pianist—has turned into an ongoing and highly successful project, both on stage and on record. With Mare Nostrum IV on ACT, the group’s journey reaches its fourth chapter. The new album features twelve fascinating tracks, with equal authorship credited to the three leaders. The trio premiered the record in Italy with three acclaimed evenings at the Blue Note in Milan at the end of March, followed by a stop in Lugano in April.
