Born in Iglesias (Sardinia), Laura J. Marras discovered music at the age of eight, when she began studying the saxophone and immediately developed a deep passion for jazz. After graduating with top honours from the Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina Conservatory in Cagliari, she has built a solid and wide-ranging career across orchestras, ensembles and original projects. As first alto saxophonist in the Conservatory’s Jazz Orchestra and a member of the Sardica Swing Orchestra, she combines orchestral work with an ongoing presence on the live circuit in quartets and quintets. Following significant recording collaborations, she released her debut album, Serenity – Laura J Marras Plays Joe Henderson (WoW Records), on 16 January 2026.
