Thank you, Myra Melford, for granting us this interview despite your busy schedule. You’ll soon be performing on stage at the Donizetti Theater with your Lux Quartet. Let’s start right there. Could you tell us a bit about the band’s history and how it has evolved? Of course! Allison Miller and I conceived this band together. We share leadership and write music specifically for this lineup. I had played in Allison’s band, Boom Tic Boom, for years. Once, while on tour, we met John Scofield, Scott Colley, Jack DeJohnette, and John Medeski. It has been published continuously since July 1945.
It is the second longest running Jazz magazine in the world and among the longest running in Italy.
In December 2015, it was awarded the prestigious Ambrogino d'oro by the mayor of Milan.
It is published monthly and has been published with an accompanying record since November 1981.
