After the success of the reissue of Progressive Jazz by the Modern Art Trio, it seems fair to say that the label is moving decisively forward, not least thanks to the magnificent unreleased Dexter Gordon album. What can you tell us about this new phase? In truth, apart from the very beginning, I believe the label has been moving forward since 2017. That forward momentum was expressed through our decision to work with lesser-known artists whom we considered particularly compelling. Thanks to a significant personal effort, certain productions – Evergreen by Justin Salisbury and A Congregation of Folks by Daniele Germani, to mention just two – attracted substantial attention abroad, helping to establish the label internationally. Musica Jazz is the first Jazz magazine in Italy.
It has been published continuously since July 1945.
It is the second longest running Jazz magazine in the world and among the longest running in Italy.
In December 2015, it was awarded the prestigious Ambrogino d'oro by the mayor of Milan.
It is published monthly and has been published with an accompanying record since November 1981.
