Created by David Simon, a former Baltimore Sun reporter, The Wire is widely regarded as one of the most significant and realistic television series ever made. Set in Baltimore, Maryland’s largest city, it tells its story from the perspectives of the police, drug dealers, schools, politics and journalism. It is not merely a crime series; it is also a layered social portrait of the city. The soundtrack features the Blind Boys of Alabama, the Neville Brothers, Solomon Burke, Michael Franti, Blaze, Rakim and Labtekwon (a well-known local rapper), as well as the vocal ensemble DoMaJe.
