Recorded during the same sessions as the first volume, this album is the sequel to the striking Our Sea Lies Within, which we discussed at the end of last year. Once again, the project of the “DOOOM Laboratory” – by now well established – is accompanied by a 20-minute documentary available on YouTube, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the recording process.

The collective reconfirms the cohesion and creative synergy already displayed in the first volume, demonstrating a remarkable ability to distil and structure material within a compact, vinyl-length sequence of eight tracks. Far from being a simple continuation or compilation of leftovers, this second chapter – as shown in the accompanying film – stands as an equally essential complement to the original work, enriching and completing its narrative arc.

What stands out most is the project’s bold and coherent artistic vision. It remains rooted in research and experimentation, yet never alienates the listener. Through a finely calibrated dramatic structure, dense but always engaging, the group manages to maintain accessibility without compromise.

Our Sea Lies Within II confirms the high level of artistry achieved by the ensemble and its leader, Francesco Cigana. A work of genuine inspiration – and definitely worth listening to.
