Juan Hitters is the author of some of the most iconic album covers through which generations of listeners have shaped their musical imagination. After working for a time as a psychoanalyst, he chose to make his gift for photography tangible, founding his own studio first in Buenos Aires and later in Bologna, where he still lives. Over more than thirty years of activity, he has created over two hundred covers for contemporary music labels – Deutsche Grammophon, Naxos, BIS – and he is more than appreciated at ECM. Musica Jazz is the first Jazz magazine in Italy.
It has been published continuously since July 1945.
It is the second longest running Jazz magazine in the world and among the longest running in Italy.
In December 2015, it was awarded the prestigious Ambrogino d'oro by the mayor of Milan.
It is published monthly and has been published with an accompanying record since November 1981.
