When the Solis String Quartet talk about their approach to music, one immediately senses the idea of a story that began long before them. Their classical training certainly plays a role – Vincenzo Di Donna, Luigi De Maio, Gerardo Morrone and Antonio Di Francia all share that background and carry centuries of repertoire with them – but so does the fact that they have worked together for more than thirty years, to the point of functioning less as four individual musicians than as a single organism.
