Thank you, Myra Melford, for granting us this interview despite your busy schedule. You’ll soon be performing on stage at the Donizetti Theater with your Lux Quartet. Let’s start right there. Could you tell us a bit about the band’s history and how it has evolved? Of course! Allison Miller and I conceived this band together. We share leadership and write music specifically for this lineup. I had played in Allison’s band, Boom Tic Boom, for years. Once, while on tour, we met John Scofield, Scott Colley, Jack DeJohnette, and John Medeski. Since we were traveling together, I started talking with Scott and asked if he’d be interested in joining a new group. We began as a trio, and then Dayna Stephens joined us.
